First Attempt...

Here are my first attempts at a time lapse video. They're rather amusing, and a little rough and rushed, but i'm happy with them. Ideally I would've like to have tried a number of other ideas but i've been ill and stuck inside the house.

It's all good!

Every now and then we all have a bad day. And just like when I was a toddler and my mum used to sit me in front of her Talking Heads Video, this video still comforts me in the same way today, kinda similar to the comfort you get lying in the foetal position. As a song I think it also gives a lot of perspective and removes you from any petite-bourgeoisie mindset which inevitably attaches itself to you from time to time.

Busy, Busy, Busy with Uni' work at the minute. But it's all good!

So i'm playing football at the Ricoh which is pretty exciting. Playing on a pitch so big the size requires fitness as well as skill, so 2 boxes I don't tick. Should be fun nevertheless!

Apart from Uni' stuff i'm going to be working on making my own time lapse video's. I've been watching them for a while, and recently figured out how it works, and made a few mini versions on my phone (they're not great but it's good practice). So I'm going to get an SLR Camera this week and get shooting. I've got lots of original idea's (I think), and a lot of enthusiasm. The Video's below are a few of my faves off the net. Enjoy!

Vive la France!

Carlos: The Jackal, made for French TV but adapted into a film, is Amazing! I think it's a contender for my favourite film. I'll give it a month or so then decide.

Also Serge Gainsbourg is a French legend! So suave and sophisticated, if I smoked a cigarette and looked half as cool as him I'd definitely have lung cancer by now!

Happy New Year All!

I drove past a man today, by the Coventry airport roundabout, with a cardboard sign with "Please Help, I need work" wrote in a black marker. He must've been at least 60. Very depressing scene. I hope he finds what he's looking for. Perhaps he was doing it as a kind of analogy of our consumerist culture in which material possessions are valued higher than the individual. This is what lead to the May '68 riots in France. Maybe that's a little far-fetched that it could happen here, The French generally mock our lack of revolutionary tendencies, and our monarchy. Perhaps they're right. I'd get right behind a post-Thatcherite revolution of rationale, logic, and a return to collectivism. Whatever.

At the minute I am LOVING Bob Dylan's Witmark Demos (Bootleg series 9). It's got many unheard Dylan songs, and early versions of classics, which are all incredible. Here's a song off of it, it's the only one I could find, but they're all great;

My First blog entry!

I've been loving a bit of blogging for a while now, and twitter more recently, so decided to jump on the band wagon. "Get on that bandwagon" I thought. And here I am!

Last night I had half a slab of Hotel Chocolat. Rocky Road and it was delicious! An early birthday present, I'm still thinking about it... Thanks Suse : )... Anyway

At the minute i'm loving reading about and enjoying the painting of British romantic landscape painter JMW Turner. It was around about a week ago I looked outside and said "It looks like a JMW Turner painting outside" and instantly realised that I love his work!

I particularly enjoy his paintings of 19th Century Boats and ships, they remind me of Ernest Hemingway's 'Old man and the Sea'. Classic!

I recently watched Tony Palmer's film Bird on a Wire, which followed Leonard Cohen's 1972 tour of Europe. It was fascinating from start to end, and a must see for all Cohen fans and anyone interested in music. I did not think it was possible to be any more in awe of Cohen's ability as well as his personality, but he really is a pleasure to watch; a humble, kind,graceful, lovely man, full of humility and compassion for everyone around him. And I am thankful for the misfortune he received when his manager fled Canada with all of his money leaving him bankrupt, as it was this that caused his 2008 tour, and one of the best nights of my life - Sunday 3rd of August, 2008. Thank you Leonard!
